Point Break was the hottest ticket in town this morning as Christmas Elvis paid us a visit to spread the holiday cheer.

After a grand entrance and a minor wardrobe malfunction, Elvis led us in the pledge and then we moseyed to the Whole Foods parking lot for warmups with songs from his Christmas album and other selections from his vast catalog. Since Elvis is the King, we started with imperial walkers and some other warmup exercises, and then the King of Rock and Roll attempted to lead the PAX in rolling the large toppled rock in front of Whole Foods back into place. Only 4 Pax attempted while the rest stood around and watched, so alas, the rock will stay where it is for now.

Since Elvis’ Christmas album was released in 1957, we did a set of 7’s which consisted of prisoner squats (with Jailhouse Rock playing on the speaker), then prisoner run to the other end for diamond merkins, then rewind run backwards for the next round of prisoner squats, and so on.

Next we took a journey through Elvis’ weight gain through the years as we performed an inflatable ELVIS consisting of Elbow-to-knees, Lunges, V-ups, Iron mikes, and Superman’s. The crowd sang along with a lot of the playlist so we did a karaoke to the end of the parking lot and headed back to the flag where we learned some more facts about Elvis which prompted exercises such as Hello Dolly’s, Elvis to Pricilla’s, Tennessee Rocking Chairs, and WWII’s. Everyone agreed that Blue Christmas was the greatest Christmas song of all time so we were rewarded with some double merkin burpees.

A great time was had by all, and I hope this is a reminder that while the holidays can be a difficult and stressful time for many of us, let us try to remain light-hearted and not take ourselves too seriously. Merry Christmas to this amazing and sometimes a little crazy group.
