A somewhat decently-executed Form Week workout filled with endless mumblechatter and plenty of complaining. Started in good form with the mission, core principles, disclaimer, and pledge before moseying in single file along the white line in a Hermes-inspired attempt at good running form, with one foot staying on white line and the other foot staying off the white line. Our in-house legal counsel Joe Smith demanded answers to his repeated questioning of whether anyone actually runs like this. Then we did warmups which focused on proper form of exercises such as SSH, hillbillies, CDD’s, and slow merkins (4 count down, 4 count up).
Then we did a few suicide-style sets in one of the big parking lots exercising our full body, where we would mosey to one station, do the exercises in good form as a group, and then sprint back to the start.
Set 1 – Upper body – CDD’s, standard merkins, diamond merkins, wide-grip merkins, then some leg stretches accompanied by a great mozzarella cheese analogy
Set 2 – Core – big boy situps, leg levers (crowd favorite), tuck jumps (another crowd favorite), side situps, then some more stretching (good mornings)
Set 3 – Lower Body – monkey humpers, squats, jump squats, lateral frog hops
We divided into 2 teams and did an all-out sprint to the other end of the parking lot, followed by a set of form-focused burpees.
Then we did a bit more core work to get ready to consume mass quantities of Duck Donuts tomorrow, where one team did core exercises while the other team ran a big pickle.
On our way back we stopped at the baseball field dugout and used the bench to help us do a set of (somewhat) proper squats. Then back to the flag for a set of slightly slower-than-usual American hammers (the right way) before finishing right as the clock struck 0615.
YHC used the COT to share some stuff that has been weighing on me about my friend who has been struggling with serious issues. The main lesson was that if you know someone who is having a hard time, sometimes they need you to just be a friend and not talk about their situation. If they want to talk about it, they will.
It would be great to see our COT’s be more often filled with men sharing things that are are going on in their lives. That is the purpose of “Circle of Trust.”
We closed by asking the Lord to help us have good form in the way we deal with ourselves and with others, and to help us have good form in trying to live more like Christ. Prayers for Oofda and his family…it sure was good to have him back.
See you at bowling tonight and DDD tomorrow!
