We leapt into the Leap Year this morning at Back In Black. After a brief airing of grievances amongst the PAX, we pledged allegiance to the flag provided by YHC and moseyed on our way.
First stop was the amphitheater where we warmed up with 29 SSH’s and a questionable number of hops in place and about 15 box jumps on the big steps, which were more difficult than some anticipated.
Jog up Ederlee Hill to the parking lots, where it was time for the Plyometric Pain Train. We took the local train while completing 10 reps of various plyometric exercises along the way….merkin claps, Bonnie Blairs, lateral frog hops, and tuck jumps. Mixed in some frog jumps and backwards bunny hops along the way. Joe Smith graced us with his extensive knowledge of church endowment funds, and in his signature way managed to make that an ongoing topic for the morning.
Next we magically found some cones which just happened be there, and used them to do a long jump competition. After several rounds, Joe Smith was crowned the long jump king. His reign did not last long, because next we did the vertical jump competition where Oofda barely edged out the aptly-named Hoppin’ John for the victory.
Finally, we couldn’t have a leap year without some good ol’ fashioned leapfrog, so we finished with some chillcut leapfrog in which we learned that Hoppin’ really does love hoppin’.
At COT we talked a bit about making the most of every situation and overcoming challenges, and Snip shared some good wisdom about the topic. MIAGD!
