“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” – Exodus 20:12
Great discussion this morning about honoring your parents, what it means, how it changes throughout our lives, why it’s important, and what it means for us as parents as we bring up the next generation.
Loved the insights that were shared all around, such as:
– Honor is so much more than obedience
– Even our parents are flawed humans but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worthy of honor or respect
– Honoring grandparents as well as parents
– Americans have been shifting our attitudes towards the elderly compared to other countries and/or the way things used to be
– We are setting an example for our kids, as our actions influence others.
And much more.
Appreciate you guys.
Ephesians 6
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
4 Fathers,[b] do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
