YHC had a hard time keeping the PAX above an 8 min pace and on route. But the Lochmere route was completed successfully. Great to have such a large crowd on a cool morning.

Weather was cold, coffee was hot. 5 PAX ran 3ish, picked up Oofda and Dowry for a bit, and then another 3ish. Early morning Huberman sunlight was enjoyed along with the most personal, Greek mythology level mubblechatter in the region’s history.

10 campers and 3 runners, with some swwingers for coffeeteria.

Started with a quick mosey to the RLC parking lot for a warmup that prompted the discussion of whether it’s Thai Fighters or TIE Fighters, and if Oofda’s earthly or galactic travels could confirm either way. Later at coffeeteria, it was also discussed whether warmups should occur near the flag so late pax can still catch the group but this was vetoed in a region with, to quote, an embarrassment of riches (so you have less of an excuse to be late from having to drive forever to get there).

Thang 1 – partner up for catch me if you can around the lake, 10 merkins when caught. Darker than anticipated, rootier than recalled so we moved on after that.

Thang 2 – partner ab DORA across the bridge on KF. 100 freddies, 200 half sit-ups, 300 penguins.

Thang 3 – greenway run back and finish up the Dora in the parking lot.

Yearly mileage goals were achieved, lamented, and projected for futures this morning as the PAX traveled the standard original reverse Just Dough It route. We have been blessed with wonderful weather the past few days to close out the year and there’s still time to get more miles before 2025.

6 bootcampers and 3 run clubbers. After pledging allegiance to the flag, which was present, we set out on our way to train for the Uwharrie Mountain Run, which is only 5 weeks away. In order to do that, we got some trail work in at Hemlock Bluffs, stopping every so often for some of my favorite leg-strengthening exercises including Al Gore jump squats, Stifler’s Mom, monkey humpers, and more. We managed to get all the way around the big loop in Hemlock Bluffs without getting lost. Saw a few deer and heard some frightening noises along the way.

At one point we partnered up and talked about how well we executed our 2024 goals, and what we are looking to accomplish in 2025. While the run clubbers made it to COT on time, the bootcampers were a few minutes late. But that made the grapes taste that much sweeter and the coffee that much more satisfying. Rave reviews are already pouring in for the resurgence of Slippery When Wet, The Place Where Legends Are Made. Congrats to Badda on hitting his mileage goal for the year today (1,500!).
