Confusion ensued as a feisty group was gathered at the flag this morning, waiting for “Mr AKOA” to be revealed. 0530 strikes and the Q for today steps forward. AKOA Week is upon us. What is AKOA Week? Well, maybe it means something different to everyone.

After a long warmup jog to show everyone the course, we gathered for some exercise demonstrations as we prepared for a morning consisting only of exercises created by certain HIMs of SCary.

We split up into 2 teams. Team 1 did four corners in the big parking lot, consisting of Stifler’s Mom and Stingray Merkins, alternating at each corner, while Team 2 ran the big pickle, Indian run style. Team 2 returned and swapped out with Team 1 (who was clearly slacking off). Repeato 2x.

Then we moved to a different parking lot and stayed together as a group for 4 corners alternating between Astro Jacks and Sledgehammer WWII’s.

Back to the flag for some Cat Scratch Fever, OYO style until time ran out. The scene was likened to a Diddy party. Which of course was a great way to end a morning full of pickles an inappropriate body movements.

“If you roll your ankle, keep going” was the instruction given to us at Uwharrie, and isn’t that a great way to look at life in general. MIAG AKOA Week.

Yearly mileage goals were achieved, lamented, and projected for futures this morning as the PAX traveled the standard original reverse Just Dough It route. We have been blessed with wonderful weather the past few days to close out the year and there’s still time to get more miles before 2025.

A surprisingly cool-ish morning at Point Break today. 2 Cleaver-ites, 1 run clubber, and 13 bootcampers set off to make themselves better.

Mosey up and around and back down through the astro turf and into the home of 88MPH. Standard-ish warm-ups: SSH, Hillbillies, Seal Claps, and the full SCary Stretch routine (including pigeon).

Onwards to the upper medical lot. Triple pain train was the order of the day. 10 reps at each stop, out and back. First round was merkins, second round was low slow flutters, third round was squats. Big pickle around the buildings between rounds. Bagels and French Lick were the only ones successful in completing all three rounds. TCLAPS.

Mosey back to the flag just in time for 2 LBCs. MIAGD

– Just a safety reminder to self, all Qs, Site Qs, and PAX. When doing an exercise anywhere, but especially an intersection/parking lot entrance, stick to the side/sidewalk/parking spaces when possible. Particularly when laying on your back. It can be easy to slack here and have a false sense of security, especially when there aren’t typically cars at a given spot, but all it takes is one. Thankful all the pax made it home today.

8 came out on a great weather morning. No rain and the temp was nice. We set off on an out and back that took us down Kildaire and left on Cary Pkwy down to Lake Pine. A little grumbling at first but by the end we all got what we needed, with some great fellowship as well. A few announcements for the AMBRR and Worlds Greatest Cleaver coming up. No spoken prayers but many thoughts in our minds to lift up. Go MIAGD!

Unofficially, officially launched #ao-daddyball. Rubiks took the Q and we started with a laundry list of warmup exercises – everyone’s least favorite was the Sally up and down song…awful. Then we took to the Cooperstown pedestrian hill for 11s (burpees and squats). Ended with Mary (boat-canoe, American hammers, box cutters and chilcut.

Prayers for Rubiks’ dad and his cancer battle, the baseball team and FNG Pinocchio’s son KG.

13 PAX partook in a loosely themed 44th birthday workout. 44 reps were completed of Freddy Mercs, Merkins, Jump Squats, Heals to Heaven and LBCs at the end. Just under 4 miles were covered. Mumblechatter was strong and counting was weak. Grease Monkey was welcomed back to the Triangle. We need to get him on the South Cary Slack. Thanks all for helping make it a great morning.

JDI ran an out and back to Henry’s house where we stopped and said some prayers for him. Thanks for your support today. Some have asked if the family needs anything right now they have what they need, I’ll reach out if something comes up we can help with.
