2024 Tour de Lightmere is in the books. Record 44 pax showed for this year’s premier SCary event despite the 28 degree temperatures. In the gloom glow ropes were passed out on the cookie table, brief safety instructions and then we were off.

First stop in a cul de sac was all about warmups featuring stealth burpees and the required Scary stretch. Waved goodbye to the house and then safely crossed Lochmere drive to run to Windy Rush Lane. Gathering like the Hoos ’round the leaf pile we held for the six, did a few more exercises culminating in Monkey Humpers in front of @hgtv’s house. Then on to Candy Cane house where the traffic suddenly picked up.

Down to the dock where the featured exercise was @kirkland leading us in 100s, a stroll down Lochmere drive, Earkins, Dirkins, Dips…cross the road, through the disc golf course culminating in the crazy house. The back to the flag for COT. Around this time @Kitty Litter pointed out that mileage topped 2.0 miles — a bit more than expected, but the pax made it through.

Robust COT with 10 FNGs. Six took names and four wisely remained anonymous so that they can’t be tracked by the government spies among us. The fires felt mighty nice.

Thanks to @Shipyard and @ Water Wings for fire duties and to all who helped make this a lot of fun for all. Ten FNGs at YHC’s workout means that with multiplier effects, means that @Fruit Loop has rocketed into first place for the 2024 Scaryiest Man contest. I humbly accept the honor. Who knew that Tour de Lightmere was the sleeper event to achieve a massive victory from behind?

A brisk but pleasant morning to put in some work and have some fun.
Long mosey to front lot for warmups including an extended (and illegal) runners stretch (although notably, no pigeon).
Mosey to the back lot where the PAX discovered the WHEEL-O-PAIN! Broke off into two groups, with one group letting the wheel decide their fate and the second group running the pickle. Swap, rinse, repeat.
For thang 2 these same groups faced off against each other in a competitive best-of-three Disc Slam relay race. Burpees for the losing team, obvi. I think we were all winners in the end though.

Nice cool morning at SW. 15 bootcampers and 2 walk broz.

At warm-ups, the pax were given a choice between heading south for more exercises or east for more running. The pax were split so YHC decided to head east for the adventure of a lifetime!

We headed out for merkins/squats on a string up Jones Franklin and down Tryon to the Bryarton Village townhouses to cross the bridge into YHC’s (and Spayed, Olsen, and OTW’s) old neighborhood. Apparently that bridge has been closed for years and is structurally unstable. We did not let this stop us and found a way…and can confirm it is unstable. Stopped at Olsen’s house for monkey humpers to check a box. Moseyed on to silver lake neighborhood for our next problem. A fence with a no trespassing sign did not deter YHC, but being unable to get the gate open did. Fortunately another route was found and we made it to and around the lake. Then back to Tryon for the jaunt back home with monkey humpers and squats/merkins along the way. Grateful for the Pax pushing through…though some lamented the option chosen and pined for the southern workout that could have been. Always enjoy leading this group and doing something new.

Started with the pledge followed by a slowZy around the church to grab the frisbee.

Immediately went to the field to start the games. Included a 7 v 7 shirts vs skins ultimate frisbee game! With a twist:

Hindeberg BLIMPS. For corners of 5 reps.

B-Burpees
L-Lunges
I-imperial walkers
M-modification of game rules (to encourage running of course!)
P-pursuing a frisbee.
S-Sweat soaked shirts/Shorts

Biggest surprise was Uni and Bubba representing at 60! Showing us age can’t beat talent.

Other highs were trying to eat the frisbee and having a BLAST!

Followed by COT.

Prayers to friends and family and our brothers who couldn’t be in the gloom today. Also let’s lift up Bubba’s father and Astros cousin.

Remember 1776 next week! And hydration 2nd F night before.

To celebrate the US’s 2-0 victory yesterday over Bolivia in the Copa America, we did a soccer themed beat down in the heat. After we mosey’d to the warm up, we did a ladder consisting of stops at the 4 cul de sacs. At the first stop, we did 5 Merkins, 10 LBC, and 15 Squats or MLS. At each stop, we added five to each exercise until we reached the valley of death. We ran down the valley and up to the other side to get some rim to rim training. Next, we did a hurricane hoedown, which is a series of four types of flutter kicks, and you start at 7 of each IC, and work your way down. we then ran back across the valley of death and worked back down the ladder doing the MLS series until we reached the COT. At that point, we were all drenched and enjoyed some hot coffee to bring our body temperatures back to normal. Prayers for those who have lost loved ones. MIAGD!

Welcome FNG Calculator and downrange Good Burn all the way from Raleigh.

As promised, solstice and gettin’ swole trivia was the main event. One PAX one voice; incorrect answers yielded the prize of burpees for all. Accompanying exercise and pickle lap executed after each question.

The PAX fared well with some tricky questions. French Lick, Vegemite, and Nugent among others impressed YHC with nailing some obscure ones.
