5 started and 5 crushed the worlds greatest epic rim to rim of 2024. Lots of Oreos and beef jerky were eaten and lemonade at phantom ranch was drank. Weather was dialed in and not even hot. Sherpa Sherpa’d at a non slowzy pace. Web never left zone 1 somehow while YHC and Kitty traversed at zone 7 the whole time. And Kirkland botched his only job of having our bags transported to north rim.   Great to be with these HIMs after a few months. Let’s do it again soon.

Once the 2-mile EC was completed and the dust settled from wondering where the was, 18 of us pledged allegiance to Old Glory and headed out for the beatdown.

Winding mosey through the adjacent neighborhood to the boat-dock where we did our usual SCary warmups and stretches.

More moseying on to one of the cul-de-sacs for the one and only thang. A set of 11s was called with merkins on one end and squats on the other. Tough sledding here for the ones who decided not to -it-in.

Moseyed on to the golf course using some super exclusive lochmere hidden gravel greenways and finally made it back to the shovel-flag with a minute to spare. Core exercises during a stop or two along the way. The Happy strava-art was completed.

COT: RIP Walter and prayers for his family. 1776 and Summer Swole-stice workouts coming up soon. Prayers for @Doula and his fam’s big move to the left-coast. Good luck brother. There were very many announcements and my mind fails me on remembering all of them. Apologies if I missed anything.

Well, all good things must come to an end. After 279 days of successfully evading the Q spotlight, YHC happily accepted Astro’s invitation to lead this fine group of HIMs. We started with the Pledge and mozied around the church to start warmups which consisted of Side Straddle Hops, Sir Fazios, Seal Claps, and overhead claps, culminating with the South Cary Stretch. Then off around the church and across the street to the Craft parking lot. The Thang included AMRAP of all the classic exercises with laps around the pickle mixed in between. The exercises included: merkins, Bonnie Blair’s, Bix Cutters, CDDs, squats, plank jacks, burpees, and LBCs. Then back to the flag for a quick round of Mary. Shoutout to @Triple Lindy for the workout format.

Announcements were announced, praises were praised, and prayers were prayed. Special thanks to F3 and you SCARY HIMs. I’m forever grateful I found you guys and the impact you’ve made in my life. Onward!

7 convened on Danny’s BBQ. Kirkland’s 2.0 and I crushed the banana pudding, Oofda almost had to use a plastic fork, and @fruitloop didn’t want BBQ two days in a row so provided color commentary. Amway wore a patriotic shirt because its Wednesday and Kiffin sold me his electric bike for $500. A good time was had by all. Danny’s Rating: 9.4

It was Pizza Day at Point Break and luckily, the PAX brought their appetite and more importantly their wallet. Started by taking the long way around from PB to 88 and into the turf area for a warm up consisting of sets of SSH’s with some stretches in between. Mumblechatter over my use of the winkie fell of deaf ears. We then moseyed to the upper parking lot to enjoy some pizza. Thang 1 consisted of HGTV’s wheel of pain to pick workout and cut the pizza. Each slice cost $8 so we did sets of 8, but you got $2 back if you did 2 on return to the wheel of pain. We worked our way around the pizza until we ate it all. We then moseyed back to the turf area and did a Tabata style workout where we did 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off of Squats, Burpees, mountain climbers, and speed skips. Repeated 4 times. Moseyed to the flag after doing one final look around the parking lot.

Rim 2 Rim training started today with a hilly route that included a few steep inclines and some rarely-travelled terrain. The route resembled an 8 for no particular reason. Some runners did not get their money’s worth and fell slightly short of the 5-mile mark so YHC gave them a discount. Pace was a bit slower than anticipated as we were clearly not quite ready for the heat and humidity. At COT we took a moment of silence to pray for our own children. Good convos at coffeeteria. Sometimes your best plan is the one that happens just 30 minutes before the workout. I had a full plan yesterday but I woke up with a new one. That damn hill is brutal and what better way to train for it than to repeat it. Warmup at the lake with the rolling fog and peaceful views. All upper body is now complete, well minus one surprise.

Mosey across the damn to the far side and back around to the bottom of the hill. Partner Dora with 100 no surrenders, 200 lunges, 300 squats. Partner runs up the hill and right to the greenway and back down. After some questionable counting we wrapped up and completed 5 burpees to end the week. Mosey back to the yard sale.

Squat hold for the six and then 20 Monkey Humpers for the crowd. Popcorn Mary ending with Pickle Pounders to HAND. Wait that’s a SWWingers move.

I’ve enjoyed the week and the push to lead and be creative with new and old ideas. Thanks for the support! There is a pizza and soda party today and Gail is already at the parking lot with her list! F3 Dads leave now, Summer Swolstice 6/20, 1776 Convergence. Praises for this group and what it does for men and those around them. Unspoken prayers. MIAGD!

We started the workout with the Pledge and moseyed over to a nice comfortable spot to complete the South Cary stretches.
Then over to the fountain for the “Infinity Loop” of squats, burpees, Blonnie Bears, merkins, burpees, and LBCs. We did that for what seemed like forever and made it back to the flag for a handful of popcorn Mary.

24 men ignored the weather forecast and showed up to push themselves and help push others. 18 ran the OCHO, many of those were VOCHO’s. It’s always amazing what some friendly nudging and EHing can push us to do.

6 stayed local for pearls on a string style beat down. The pledge, mosey to the boat ramps for a warmup, then mosey to the first stop. The plan was 8 reps of each and 8 stops along the route.

Start on the dry ground at Loch View to Sylvan Grove to the greenway. Run along the lakeside and back to Lochmere then back to the flag. 8 stops were executed! My watch showed 2.82 at the flag, the square root of 8.

Rainy mornings are rare in SCary but they always add a little more to the gloom experience. It’s amazing to see how this group rallies in support when called upon. In the theme of the month for the F3 Nation, Mental Battle Month, No OYO! Lean on your brothers, whether its for a walk during a boot camp while injured or stressed, a personal struggle you may need an ear or advice on, or if you notice someone in a battle but not vocalizing it.
