March madness themed workout this morning. We revisited the age old question of which Gators team is the best team of all time. Of course the 2025 Gators made this a more complicated question. PAX split into two teams (’07 and ’25) to complete feats of physical and mental strength.

6 souls came out for a St. Patrick’s Day themed workout. Rain started just prior to our start. First was the Pledge and then we moseyed across the way for some standard warmups for a 17 count.

We then headed down towards the holler better known as the Valley for the thang.

Dublin Dry Docks (CDD) in the center each time we passed through.

Made it back in time to get a sprint in up to flag and some 17 rep Mary exercises called out by the PAX with rain starting again before we finished.

10 campers and 4 brOchos hit the waves this morning. I had no elaborate plan but to see how many showed up and wing it. Pledge and we are off.

Mosey for a flying Ray warmup. Stop at BK to stretch it your way. Continue on to Whole Foods for some no fluff added standards. Continue on to the bottom of all hills and man did those baked goods smell delicious OTW!

Grab a coupon and a compadre. Mosey up to the fountains. Partner Dora with a twist. One does the standard merkins/squats/LBCs while the partner carries the coupon up and around the pickle. Everyone hit 3 carries each but counting was questionable.

Return our coupons to the bottom. Mosey to finish the sting ray. Back to the flag for Mary. One PAX’s signature was stolen so he had to think fast. 100’s then HAND!

Major trouble counting at COT. 10 no 12 no 16 no 14. Prizes for the Merkin Champs were handed out. OTW got his Perfect Push-up gift set. Nabs got some epsom salt and recovery cream/gel.

Two showed up for an epic high tempo workout. The theme: Don’t Mail it in. The result: it was CLEAR HIMS were Q shopping this glorious Monday. Only a few HIMs came prepared for an epic beat down. Others heard the name “Yogi” and knew if their participation meant hitting every rep and giving it 45 minutes of their best, maybe best to go elsewhere.

YHC stepped in for Yogi. And per Yogi’s request, lead a 10 Rounds with Tyson workout.

Side Note: I firmly believe my actions today reset the clock for the few times YHC slept in to allow others to become leaders.

Thang 1. 1-mile warmup
Thang 2. 10 rounds with Tyson
Thang 3. Knockout Round.

Completed 6 rounds with Tyson. Course. The sheep loop, HITT at each corner. Merkins, Squats, WWII, CCDs, low slow flutters, and Jump Squats.

Round 7 was the knock out. Performed a “Motivator’esque” workout. Started at 10 ended at 1. Instead of jumping jacks, performed step ups, high knees, tuck jumps, and squats.

At this point the HIMS questioned why we didn’t just drink coffee for the 45 minutes, because this is hard.

We persevered! Got the knock out. Back to the flag for COT.

Great coffeeteria discussions pursued about summer pools and concerts.

Temps were high, as was the workout tempo. PB flag is on the IR so we pledged to the CFA flag and took off for the grassy area for warmups, including the motivator led by Flintstone.

Thang 1 – 12 min of up and down the stairs. Except for one Pax who kept on modifying to do merkins at the bottom. HTSI.

Thang 2 – over to the building in the back for out and backs with exercises at each tree island. Run to the first island for 2 merks and 2 jump squats. Then run back to the start. Then to the second tree island for 4 of each and so on until we completed our 12 even only combinatorial set. Quick round of mary while the six came in.

Back to the flag for another Flintstone motivator! Then regular Mary.

What better way to start off my JIU 2025 Q season than with everyone’s favorite thang. That’s right, 9 brave pax conquered the Valley today for a set of 21s (properly counted this time). Merkins on one end, shoulder taps on the other (though not “all the way to the top” much to Trickle’s dismay). 5 squats at the bottom each time. It was noted that this was probably the most cumulative maximum effort given by the pax while traversing the valley. No mailboxing today. Nice work gents.

A bunch of SCary-ites and 2.0s plus many outside our region came together for the premier family friendly donut eating race in our fine state. Grateful for the turnout, the volunteers and the pax who makes this all possible – Bagels. Special thanks to Shut In for planning the route and providing thorough instructions. Congrats to our 2025 winners Zero Drop and Daniel Boone. Special props to Web MD’s M who unofficially became the first female full qualifying finisher. We truly did make this a great day. If I forgot any SCary pax say the word.

Solid turn out for the Sherpa special loophole EC, YHC not included. Maybe a debut for Punkin?
A few run broz did their highfalutin thing.

T-2 months until the Highland Games, so the other 19 of us embarked on a Mini Highland Games to get ourselves prepared. I swear our fearless facilitator OTW did not pay me to do this.

After the pledge we grabbed the flag and set out. 5 mini AOs were discovered along the way, most with a challenge. We divided into two clans in the spirit of competition. After warmups, challenge 1 was alligator merkins out and back. At the next step we had a jump squat relay race; Hermes and his brother Astro both had highly questionable form. The next stop brought us by the Hulk broz who appeared to be slinging some serious weight around. We embarked on an LBC challenge- which team can do the most reps in 3 minutes. The PAX did a total of over 2,800 LBCs which sounds super impressive. Last stop on our way back was a rock paper scissor challenge, loser does burpees.

Good push by the PAX to make it back for COT just in time. Props to all those who carried the quad-dent flag along the way.

This was a DAY. The EC event of the year, the cap of the 5th Q-6-pack of the month, a major announcement, and a major milestone for our young region. More in the NMS.

At least two cohorts for the WGECOcho, and at least one ruck cadre partaking in the EC options this. Somewhere around 30 gathered at the flag to welcome FNG Leigh, hit the core principles, and head out. Warm up lap around the pool lot island, and gather near the flag for warmups.

Find a partner on your way to the clubhouse and grab a coupon. Two laps around the pickle. First do murder bunnies, next do lunge walks. Non coupon partner runs around till you meet, then swap.

Next thang, supplement our collection with pain sticks, the off for the Planters Wood culdesac. Stop at every mailbox for 5 squats and 5 presses. Swap some items at the end and head back via the greenway.

Back to the flag… then back for the six, the back to the flag. A very incremental PAX count (only rivaled by the old SNS-Maynard days). Somewhere around 32 is my guess (as I type this in Notes before loading the PAX names). We named FNG Leigh “Sioux”. Full name ‘[A Boy Named] Sioux’. Credit to Brie for the idea early on in the Ocho. Leigh independently referenced A Boy Named Sue when we pondered the spelling of his name at COT, so it was too good to pass up.

We only lost Petey between EC and ME, but we ran for a dang hour+, so granting posting credit.

COT was strong. R2R(2R) was announced, hit up Doula to HC. Reflections on those we’ve lost, but more critically, the ones we still have. Today continues to be a gift, so let’s not miss it.

The fun part for me to reflect on today was this – I think we saw a new milestone for South Cary in the PAX lifecycle. We had an FNG join, catch fire, accelerate, have unmistakable impact on the region at large, leave, start a region, and come back to visit… infusing energy into the last couple days. Thank you Doula for stopping through, it was awesome to see you again.

This week was fun!!! But as I’m sure AKOA can attest, I am very happy that it’s over. Till sometime next week y’all.
