This was a DAY. The EC event of the year, the cap of the 5th Q-6-pack of the month, a major announcement, and a major milestone for our young region. More in the NMS.

At least two cohorts for the WGECOcho, and at least one ruck cadre partaking in the EC options this. Somewhere around 30 gathered at the flag to welcome FNG Leigh, hit the core principles, and head out. Warm up lap around the pool lot island, and gather near the flag for warmups.

Find a partner on your way to the clubhouse and grab a coupon. Two laps around the pickle. First do murder bunnies, next do lunge walks. Non coupon partner runs around till you meet, then swap.

Next thang, supplement our collection with pain sticks, the off for the Planters Wood culdesac. Stop at every mailbox for 5 squats and 5 presses. Swap some items at the end and head back via the greenway.

Back to the flag… then back for the six, the back to the flag. A very incremental PAX count (only rivaled by the old SNS-Maynard days). Somewhere around 32 is my guess (as I type this in Notes before loading the PAX names). We named FNG Leigh “Sioux”. Full name ‘[A Boy Named] Sioux’. Credit to Brie for the idea early on in the Ocho. Leigh independently referenced A Boy Named Sue when we pondered the spelling of his name at COT, so it was too good to pass up.

We only lost Petey between EC and ME, but we ran for a dang hour+, so granting posting credit.

COT was strong. R2R(2R) was announced, hit up Doula to HC. Reflections on those we’ve lost, but more critically, the ones we still have. Today continues to be a gift, so let’s not miss it.

The fun part for me to reflect on today was this – I think we saw a new milestone for South Cary in the PAX lifecycle. We had an FNG join, catch fire, accelerate, have unmistakable impact on the region at large, leave, start a region, and come back to visit… infusing energy into the last couple days. Thank you Doula for stopping through, it was awesome to see you again.

12 HIMs and a half (pup) happily showed their commitment to fitness today. Took the rain or shine and hot or cold principles seriously.

We were quick to get started, pledge then mosey.

Pulled out the “water proof” deck of cards.

= beach body, 10 count of Mary any heart drawn.
= HIMs best friend, the burpee. Face value 2 to 13.
= merkins, face value 2-13
= get low in the club, jump squats, face value 2-13.

The twist! Any time an Ace is drawn perform the motivator. First ace is 5 reps, second is 10 and so on.

The workout, PAX draws card performs exercise, pickle, rinse and repeat.

Good news for these HIMs that all 4 aces were drawn. Bad news, a lot of diamonds were pulled. However for the 3rd ace drawn, we allowed a 5 burpee opportunity to draw again. We must of wanted it. The redraw was the 4th ace. Three rounds of motivator performed. Excellent job gents!!!

Fantastic day in the gloom. Warm coffee and a new need to learn more about Francois’ high-school soccer coach.

4 PAX braved the cold damp climate after a late night of one-sided football. I can’t remember the last time I got out of the car and thought that I didn’t want to do this. But that’s the space we strive to be right? Do hard things. Here we go…

Warmup lap down two of the culdesacs for warmups. Back to the park for the thangs.

THANG 1 – Figure 8s around the playground, stopping at the vertex each time for 8 merkins. 8 stops total.

THANG 2 – [modified for group size] Sets of Irkins/StepUps/ShoulderShrugs/Dips in the pavilion split up by sheep loops. 20-16-12-8 on the reps.

Back to the flag for stand up Mary, which was harder than it sounded.

That’s it! Held to the mission yet again, I do enjoy these much smaller groups. Today felt like a repeat of the vaguely damp 4-man workout from a few weeks ago. I think I live the closest to JSP out of today’s group, so I was grateful y’all made the journey. One down, five to go!

AKOA week continues. Beautiful brisk morning at Point Break, with a little bit of something for everyone, Cleaver-ites, Ruckers, and Bootcampers. Problematic numberz (probably because of the nut milk advertised at coffeteria.

Anyways, welcome FNG, so mission and core principles. Off we mosey to the Shake Shack lot with an extra loop for good measure. Warm-ups near an unexpectedly sketchy 4-Runner. At this point a new F3 Game was created, look for it at an AO near you soon, Yogi and Bubba-isms Bingo. Looped around the lot again, down past whole foods (and the sketchy 4-Runner for a second time) and onto the green to find…..

THE WHEEL OF PAIN (core-centric edition)
Spin the wheel, 20 of called exercise OYO followed by a big pickle around Shake Shack. Halfway through we needed to balance some things out so merks and squats to restore said balance. Continue on until all exercises had been called. More squats and merks then back up to the big lot. At this point Kirkland was bemoaning the lack of AKOA exercises, so Astro Jacks, Stiflers Mom, American Sledgehammers, and Cat Scratch Fever were all called. Back to pick up the wheel (which Gravel Mouth bore upon his back) and then to the flag.

A robust group of 8 JIU regulars gathered this morning amidst the sheep and luxury homes. At 0530 confusion abounded as no one knew who would be the fitness leader for the day. Then, in a shock to everyone, the YHC Astro presented himself as the Q and welcomed the Pax to AKOA WEEK.

We moseyed and warmed up and then on to thang 1. Four corners around the sheep loop with stifler’s moms, cat scratch fever, stingray merkins and Marge to homers. 10, 15, and 10 reps for the three rounds. It was noted that these exercises from last year were fairly hump-centric.

A cold and snowy morning –
Morale was already high when YHC arrived (fyi – when I offered to Q, didn’t look at weather and likely would’ve fartsacked premeditated)

HOWEVER…..15 PAX went the distance and took the fight into the Championship rounds

All Pax got what they came for, and I personally witnessed men doing the hard thing when they didn’t feel like it.

2.) ECU Professor, T.D. Gribble (ECU Martial Arts director for ~20 years)
His parents were killed for unknown motive. Suspect was apprehended by T.D. (Who is a follower of Christ, and the only reason I believe suspect was shown mercy)
T.D. and his family need prayer for this unfathomable incident
I don’t even know what to say to him, and usually I can text him for whatever.

Even though DJT has a busy day today, he managed to swing by JIU this morning to Make South Cary Great Again. After his 4th Pledge of Allegiance, he moseyed to the warm up spot and did some stretching along with some American Hammers, some Booby Hurleys to simulate raising his right hand, and then some Offset Merkins for putting his hand on the Bible. Moseyed to Capital Hill (aka Valley of Death).

3 Cleaverers (Clevearites? Cleaverians?) and 16 bootcampers launched from Point Break on a crisp and windy morning. After a mosey and warmup we found safety from the wind in a parking deck, at Term Paper’s welcome suggestion.
Thang 1: The world’s shortest, but not easiest, 11’s. Bear crawl about 20 feet, Merkin, Crab Walk back, LBC.
Interlude: Washington Commanders Run (or Kenyan Queue) modified so the front person dropped off, performed 5 Merkins, then catches up to the back and yells “Loud and Proud, the Six”. After some confusion about which line the yelling was for one group modified the call to wish YHC a Happy Birthday.
Thang 2: 11’s on a hill. CDDs at top, Squats at bottom, and PAX choice of Everests or backwards run up the hill.
Mosey back to the flag, couple minutes o’ Mary, and Have a Nice Day!

Modify as necessary! I had a plan but ice forced a couple of modification. Disclaimer, the Pledge, mosey out. We attempted to visit water but were turned around and made a brief visit to the Epic hood across the street to warmup.

During warmups TinkerToy expressed his love for The Murph, then others mentioned squats, so they were thrilled when we arrived at the playground for a Murph. Dora style with a bigger than preferred pickle to start. Once we wrapped up the Murph we visited the victorious rams for some Jack Webbs.

Back to the flag for some Mary round robin, with Petey calling the final exercise! HAND!
