A bunch of SCary-ites and 2.0s plus many outside our region came together for the premier family friendly donut eating race in our fine state. Grateful for the turnout, the volunteers and the pax who makes this all possible – Bagels. Special thanks to Shut In for planning the route and providing thorough instructions. Congrats to our 2025 winners Zero Drop and Daniel Boone. Special props to Web MD’s M who unofficially became the first female full qualifying finisher. We truly did make this a great day. If I forgot any SCary pax say the word.

And just like that AKOA week comes to a close. Some may reflect on this as SCary’s first CSAUP of 2025. Some may reflect on it as the most fun they’ve had all year. Some may reflect on it with disdain and an attitude of good riddance. Some may even still be asking themselves, what is AKOA Week?

Astro kicked things off this morning with some attempted deception involving multiple laps around the upper lot until finally heading towards the dock for warm-ups. Upon the mosey to the dock who should appear but Kitty Litter, OTW, and Amway at various locations each calling their ‘signature’ exercise. Fairly standard warm-ups with the inclusion of the Rick Rude which left Texas Ranger in tears, then passed off to the cat who may be on his 9th life.

Kitty Litter took us down to the disc golf pickle for some AKOA four corners. By now I think you know which exercises were called.

OTW took us over to the rock pile for some rock work and TAKE THE HILL (which was more of a tiny bump to Pick Up).

Amway led us back to the pool for How Well Can You Keep a Secret burpees, Last Man Merkin-ing, and Mary.

Thanks to everyone who participated in and supported this endeavor. Part of what makes this group great is not taking ourselves too seriously and pushing each other to do more than we thought we could. This week accomplished that and shoutout to the guys who completed a full AKOA week. Now who’s ready for part two?

A strong showing, mult-region workout for this year’s 1776 convergence. Different format this year with the 6 and brotherhood in mind, which made the little longer format so enjoyable for all you guys. I know I enjoyed it, especially the mosey to the burpee field I thought I was gonna splash.

Yogi trying to start a new AO that meets little later than typical – 8am. TBD. Some other regions snuck in some advertising for more 1st F stuff:
-Smoke n Mirrors considering the man @VHS for a side bar low/no tempo weight workout;
-the man Yogi trying to start a “later than typical” workout in SCary, something like 8am – any interested should get up with him.
-Lifting up the man @Pickup for his 1st Year F3 anni, and for all others just staring KEEP COMING OUT.

We send prayers for our friends and coworkers, those we know injured, and struggling, and traveling, those trying to do good things for others….let’s ALL REMEMBER our blessings, put our support forward to these people and others in need, to do this in whatever way you can, small or large it does not matter as long as you remember the concept of Living 3rd.

And finally, we enjoyed coffeteria to the fullest. Tables full of coffee, water, snacks, the works, all good quality low calorie healthy stuff to end our time together, for today that is. When in the course of human events, we get 76 + 1 PAX to descend upon Ritter Park, we do so to honor the birth of our great nation and celebrate our freedom.

Many brave souls ventured out to conquer one of the 3 EC options available. A near-problematic number embarked on the treacherous Freedom EC to capture a shovel flag being held by the British Crown, deep in the Scottish Highlands of Lochmere.

The main event started with a 1776-yard mosey (approx 1 mile) and then we proceeded to work through a list of 1776 reps between 17 different exercises….100 reps each, then we bear crawled 100 yards back to the flags and did 76 burpees together going around the circle where each PAX had a chance to call “down” for 1 burpee.

We covered 1.76 miles in total, according to Hello Kitty’s official Strava record. This backblast may also have taken 1776 seconds to write. 4 FNG’s named. Callahan took us out in prayer. Pinto snapped a great group pic. The afterparty included several pots of coffee, water, beer, hard seltzers, danishes, American flag cookie, and great fellowship. Thank you to everyone who joined us to participate and everyone who contributed to make this event a success!
