2024 Tour de Lightmere is in the books. Record 44 pax showed for this year’s premier SCary event despite the 28 degree temperatures. In the gloom glow ropes were passed out on the cookie table, brief safety instructions and then we were off.

First stop in a cul de sac was all about warmups featuring stealth burpees and the required Scary stretch. Waved goodbye to the house and then safely crossed Lochmere drive to run to Windy Rush Lane. Gathering like the Hoos ’round the leaf pile we held for the six, did a few more exercises culminating in Monkey Humpers in front of @hgtv’s house. Then on to Candy Cane house where the traffic suddenly picked up.

Down to the dock where the featured exercise was @kirkland leading us in 100s, a stroll down Lochmere drive, Earkins, Dirkins, Dips…cross the road, through the disc golf course culminating in the crazy house. The back to the flag for COT. Around this time @Kitty Litter pointed out that mileage topped 2.0 miles — a bit more than expected, but the pax made it through.

Robust COT with 10 FNGs. Six took names and four wisely remained anonymous so that they can’t be tracked by the government spies among us. The fires felt mighty nice.

Thanks to @Shipyard and @ Water Wings for fire duties and to all who helped make this a lot of fun for all. Ten FNGs at YHC’s workout means that with multiplier effects, means that @Fruit Loop has rocketed into first place for the 2024 Scaryiest Man contest. I humbly accept the honor. Who knew that Tour de Lightmere was the sleeper event to achieve a massive victory from behind?

SCary’s most problematic AO is back, and this time with record numbers! The dads jumped out to an early 4-1 lead, supported by the finesse of FNG dad VO5 (The Super’s BIL) who put up an early hat trick. The kids came back with a vengeance, tying up the match and then it was a close match the rest of the way. Sherpa’s 2.0 Hat Trick reminded us of our superb footwork and scoring abilities.
VO5’s 2.0 Rocket showed us his rocket of a foot. Grisham was full of energy and played most of the time with a 2.0 on his shoulders…taking rucking to a new level. Future F3 leader and kid veteran Four-Seam made some incredible saves in goal. Sbarro was a stonewall as usual. Water Wings and YHC showed off some fancy header “skills”. The Super found the back of the net in his SCary Dads soccer debut. Well Done saved our butts on defense more than once. Little FNG Yoshi showed no fear. George family 2.X’s Seadoo and Snorkel kept the kids’ offense moving. Kiffin wore his fancy glasses. The Mayflower girls might be on their way to playing for Barcelona. Somehow we ended up with 2 FIFA’s. Amazingly, no injuries. Happy Birthday to FIFA (Well Done’s 2.0), The Super, and Mayflower. Great time today! Looking forward to the next one.

4 dads and 9 kids converged on Ritter Park for a very dadsy-boot camp. After a warmup in the parking lot and a round of animal walk relays, we pearls’d with 1 Burpee at each stop out of the park and back around through the Baker Roofing lot into Ritter.

The dads showed no mercy this time and prevailed 11-10 for their first win of the season. Standout performances by Adjacent and his aptly-named 2.0 Manchester. A nice spread of assorted doughnuts and Gatorade provided by the Sbarro family.

4 dads and 8 2.0s displayed world class talent on the pitch today. Sherpa’s 2.0 was named Hat Trick for the obvious amazing display of talent! Too many highlights and standout performances to mention here.

23 total F3 Dad’s and their 2.0s enjoyed a lovely first taste of fall weather and extended the no injury streak at South Cary’s most dangerous AO to 2.

The activities kicked off with the pledge of allegiance followed by a full speed mosey to the warm up spot. Good mornings, merkins, squats, side straddle hops, and lunges got everyone ready for the fun to come.

A mosey to the basketball court was followed by several balloon themed relay races and a couple animal relay races.

After that it was off to the baseball field for jump the creek and cross the ocean.

The Dad’s and 2.0s returned to the flag and welcomed two FNGs.

This morning’s animal-themed workout started with a review of the 3 F’s, then Armstrong led us in the pledge, then Spirit led us in a full speed warmup lap around the parking lot. Warmups consisted of various animal poses led by Spirit and a few called by fellow PAX.

We ran to another parking lot to do a variety of animal-themed relay races. The boys won 2 races, the girls won 1 race, and the dads won 1. The dads will need to train for next time.

Then we played kids vs dads capture the flag it was fun at first but didn’t end well….

SCary’s most dangerous AO claimed another victim and this time it was YHC…after a swift and heroic move capturing the flag, my getaway was foiled as I promptly slipped on the concrete and scraped up both my knees and dislocated my finger.

Special thanks to Jigglypuff and Sbarro for stepping in to help finish the last few minutes as YHC was bloody and somewhat disabled.

We finished with animal crackers (of course) and Gatorade. YHC was a bit disillusioned and forgot I had a whole carafe of coffee in the truck. Maybe I’ll save it for next month, LOL
