At the waffle-free zone of Marla Dorrel Park, we enjoyed this cool spring morning as follows:

Run to greenway / various warm up exercises
Run to bridge over 64, go to the far end with the curvy hill
–1 pushup at top, 6 LBC’s at bottom
–2 pushups, 5 LBC’s,
–etc.

Back the way we came on the greenway
Stop and do Tabata workout (20 seconds exercise, 10 seconds rest)
–squats
–plank jack
–crunches
–mountain climbers
(Repeat for 8 minutes)

Run back to park lot
Circle up for Mary

For COT, we were met by @WebMD and @TheSuper, who had been running.

16 descended upon the lovely Giles residence in the hills of Regency for a poker night to remember. Vegan and non-Vegan snacks were provided. Beverages of various types were brought in by select Pax.

The game – two tables of 8 pax each. One of them was Tamara’s prized dining room table which was treated with appropriate care. Pax were randomly assigned to a table and a seat. One table seemed to have the more serious poker players, plus a wild card who kept busting them up and putting them on tilt.

Blinds increased very rapidly and steeply to keep things moving, which was both scorned and appreciated.

As the night wore on, the cream rose to the top with most of the names you expected to be there making the final table (except for Kiffin, who went out early despite a re-buy). High drama with many all-in moments. Down to the final 4 of Term, Astro, Augmented and Hermes. Out goes TP at the hands of the host and then down went that same HIM at one of the remaining two players. Not a single heads up hand was played as Astro quickly motioned to call it done and split up the winnings. Augmented with 2x the chips threw his weight around and suggested a $380 vs $100 split, which was rejected. After upping the offer to $360 and $120 the deal was sealed and two Pax went home monetary winners. But really…all who attended won.

Could highlights…
-term coming over to table two with exasperated updates on bad beats at his table
-oofda complaining about a bunch of recyclables that ended up in the trash can.
-laloosh doing laloosh things
-learning that there are both bosswood and boxwood cts in Cary
-Astro busting up Amway on another venue
-Buncha pax staying up hours past their bedtime

18 strong galavanted around the Regency area and all made it back home on time.

On the morn of the 169th Loch-n-Load, a non-baker’s dozen emerged from the farthest corners of South Cary (and beyond) for the 2nd-ever Site Q transition workout at the illustrious Area of Operations. The PAX pledged and prepared for a lengthier-than-usual HG diatribe… which was boiled down to a ‘LETS GO’ and we were off.

Loop around Whisperwood when we encountered our first stroke of adversity – an enlimpened Site Q emerged on the warmup circle. After much groaning at the warmup choices, the group returned to Lochmere Drive and headed to the bridge for Irkins, Merkins, and Derkins IN THE STREET. T-Clap to our safety minded PAX for keeping us safe.

To the bottom of the hill and Tonnage took over. PTL. Rocks and Hills. Never easy! Back to the top and split off our walking contingent. Transitioned the Q to Morpheus, who took us to the newly minted Morpheus Drive for 7s – Merkins at the top, squat jumps at the bottom. Burpees til the 6 at the bottom until the transition to Jigglypuff!

Mosey back through the pickle area to the bball hoop. Shoot a free-ish throw, do 5 burpees if you miss. Mosey back to the flag, rejoining the walkers who were mid-air-hump. About 10s late though, so have a nice day!

It is a great honor to serve as Site Q once more, and so psyched that Morpheus is stepping up in this way. Super grateful for HGTV and Tonnage – the flag can be a heavy burden at times, but you have carried it with great leadership. 6 embarked on a journey following the JDI route. But a mid run audible was called to pursue quieter, more discussion friendly roads. And it paid off. Great open discussion about what retirement means to each person, with a coalescence around the idea that it’s really about following your passions in life. The current concept of retirement in America originated in Germany in the late 1800s, which led to a tangent of this excellent skit from the late Norm McDonald, copied below for your entertainment.

No rest between rounds – instead pickles and punches (getting closer to PH balanced)

Q juice is powerful stuff – but sometimes it just doesn’t hit. Passion and genuine gratitude usually put wind in my sails, but not today.

Passion I believe is the most advanced form of movitation, and the lowest form is white-knuckled willingness. That was enough to get me there, and God did the rest, to Him be the glory

I know God works through people, certainly the men that showed up this morning to do the hard thing.

Step ups and other weighted warmups. Rock work behind walmart. Hill work, too for a chops squat string combined with backwards uphill shuffle. Low distance, high impact. COT and then coffee over which life’s little problems got more easily solved.

3 EC’ed a KB Mile. 10 were there to start with the pledge and off we go. Mosey to the other side of the lake to warmup. Then a somewhat faster pace up the infamous hill to put out a fire.

Over to the deck for a demonstrated BLIMPS turned pain train. Wrap it up and down the stairs to the other stairs for some calf raises. Mosey down the dark trail to the lake and around to the bridge for a bear crawl. Continue on our lakeside tour to the back of the stage for yet another calf raise call. Back to the flag lead by a CJ sprint. HAND!
