Wasn’t entirely sure how this morning would go after rolling my ankle yesterday but it was a terrific morning in the gloom. At first I thought the cold had chased everyone off and we were going to have a small group but the pax poured out of the woodwork as the clock inched closer to 0530. Intro, disclaimer, pledge and off we mosey.

Merkin pain train

The pax were overjoyed by the prospect of this, and the very detailed instructions YHC gave on how to execute said pain train. Lots of questioning about the necessity and wisdom of this choice but naturally that was just the pax’s way of expressing their gratitude. Once that was completed and those early finishing pax were fussed at for simply standing around waiting off we go to thang 2.

Partner up. Partner 1 calls an exercise and partner two does that AMRAP while P1 runs the small ramp pickle. Switch. After P1 and P2 complete AMRAP + Pickle, P2 gets to call an exercise for the next round. Some masochistic pax called merkins as one of their choices….. Lots of mumblechatter and concern about time and getting back to the flag by several pax including two overly concerned site Qs. After round 4 we moseyed back for an expertly time HAND.

After the greatest and longest pre-blast in Just Ruck It history, I arrived to find no one in ruck vests at the AO. As the Just Do It guys wandered off, Gravel Mouth pulled in, and we set off a few minutes late. We talked about cars, my cruise adventure, and a few other things, and arrived back a few minutes late.

12 PAX showed up at SW early this morning. 2 left after I introduced myself so 10 stalwart keepers of fitness and general agreeability embarked on 45 minutes free from the shackles and burdens of cadence counting. We did an easy mosey around the parking lot while we waited in @chipper to shave, shower and change out of his running clothes and into his boot camp clothes. Once he joined us, we broke up into pairs for some flying warmups.

Then we moseyed over to the giant-ish courtyard for some:
– Prisoner run catch me if you cans
– 4 corners forward
– 4 corners in reverse
– paint the sidewalks with lunge walks and bear crawls
– paint the sidewalks in reverse with lunge walks and bear crawls

Then we left the courtyard for the parking lot. A quick pause for some South Cary Stretching and into some rolling sprints. (Note to management – SCARY needs more sprinting)

A delightful morning and the coffee was delicious, thank you @unitard. Always an honor to lead and a quick shout out to @shipyard for the SCary-iest man challenge which helps me step outside of my comfort zone to visit and Q AO’s I don’t normally attend.

What a great morning at Waverly Place! We had multiple EC options and a strong running contingent during the main event.

After the AO Inspection EC by me and Hallmark, 11 PAX returned via a pearls on a very long string through some parking lots to Ritter Park where we spent about 5 minutes doing curb irkins and pull ups. Quick wave to the Hulkamania PAX and we set off on our return journey via Loch Lomond and the tent-guy-cut-through back to Waverly. Some ambitious exercises at the high ledge by the fountains, featuring the ‘half time’ ALRSUs. Back to the flag just in time. Rejoined with the 12 runners for COT.

It was a last second Q pickup, but I was glad for the opportunity to lead. MIAGD!

5 for a long dark string with approx 3 pearls. We cut through Audubon Parc to get to the lake, then cam back via Summerwinds and Waverly. The weight was heavy, but the company was supportive. Prayers up for Quiver’s dad and Wah Wah’s dad. Let’s be thankful for God’s provisions today!

16 showed for this VQ in the blustery gloom this morning. Started out with the Mission, core principles, FNG welcome and the pledge. Mosey to the EC loop for parking lot warm up of SSH, Merkins, Hillbillies and arm circles (not sure of official name spelling). Mosey to Craft for some Dora fun..LBCs, plank jacks and Stiflers Mom. Back to the church for 4 corners…Merkins, jump squats, heels to heaven and CDDs. Comments may have suggested too much running for this VQ attempt :). Finish with a round of Mary and FNG naming. We were joined by a father son duo. One from out of town. One from Cary. Both Gator fans. Unreal!
March madness themed workout this morning. We revisited the age old question of which Gators team is the best team of all time. Of course the 2025 Gators made this a more complicated question. PAX split into two teams (’07 and ’25) to complete feats of physical and mental strength.
Gators won!

12 showed up to waverly on St. Patrick’s Day to see what the Q had in store.

No flag, so no pledge. We set off with some back and forth runs to the fountain and then the road and back. To the fountain for warmups.

The thang…a pickle, two exercises, different pickle, add two exercises, different pickle, add two exercises and then a final pickle and add three exercises. Then start deconstructing. Exercises were:

A cold and still church parking lot with a small handful of PAX ever ready to get 1% better.

We had 1 PAX for each station and it was slow start, with only commitment to the gloom as motivated.

A 5 rounder with slow start and a hard first 2 rounds for everyone. But as the fight went on, everyone found their rhythm. YOU vs YOU was the theme, and the in doing the hard thing, we conquered the gloom

These PAX dug deep, and modified where where necessary, and stayed moving

YHC tried to make it fun, but often, we have accept the fun aspect. So we do it with our brothers.
